I find many children's books to be poorly written, dull or without a message. Both my 18 month old and 4 year old love this book. This book is all around well done. The illustrations are adorable. The added bonus is it is fun for adults too. I look forward to it as much as the kids do. I highly recommend.
I got this for my daughter who is having issues staying in bed at night. She loves this story and I swear it has helped get her to stay in bed.
My kids current favorite books for bedtime are the "Mama Llama" books. They even keep our 1 year old's attention. My children's ages are 2.5 and 1. These books have big bright pictures with cute rhyming. Llama Llama Red Pajamas is good for a bedtime story. I highly recommend this book for children ages 1-4.
My son does not know how to speak yet, so he asked me to communicate his opinion on this book. He thinks that the book is uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu.
Not cute. My son, 3.5, decided that he should mimic baby llama, and just laid in his bed, yelling "mama mama" all night after reading the book.
Of course, it depends on the child, but most toddlers and preschoolers are going to feel some separation anxiety at some time that does not need to be dismissed as Llama Mama does. Do you have to run to your child every time he/she calls you.
I bought this through a Scholastic book club for $1 and it was no bargain. My main gripe with the book, though, is that the baby llama is sitting shrieking in his room for his mama and it's somehow depicted as cute.
No. If your child is screaming in fear, that is clearly different.
Not funny. Not in my house.
